  I recently ordered a sof from DFS and currently awaiting delivery. Like you they tried to flog me all kinds of everything, including these easy gliders. Not being one to just believe the rhetoric of the sales guy I asked to 'have a go' of a settee that was fitted with them......Hmmm, not only were they expensive, as you say £48 for something you can pick up on a market stall, they were useless (on carpet at any rate which is what the sofa will be sitting on).

  I found them a bit sneaky trying to slip in other products on the bill e.g. leather care pack for £25, insurances etc and the guy was quite taken aback when i told him to take them off as I hadn't agreed to them...his response 'oh I'm really sorry, it's just that most people do so I assummed, it's only coppers over 48 months after all..........'

  Jaysus, I don't care if it's £25 over 4 years or £25 up front, it's still £25!!!

  My daughter has just been stung by the same thing. She just had her sofa delivered with eaziglides but the sofa won't budge an inch, surely this product is not 'fit for purpose' in the sale of goods act. I have just emailed DFS and await their reply.

  I was thinking about ading them to y new sofa which I am currently deciding on. Also noticed an adver wit them and a youtube video. Thanks for the heas up.

  Does anyone know the names of ones that can be picked up elsewhere at a fraction of the price?

  You can get them from B&Q, Homebase etc.

  A quick B&Q link - I'm sure there are other options.

  I did exactly that...trotted off the b&q and bought what I thought where the same but cheeper. I scratched my floor to hell. My friend, her friend, her mum and so one.. had originally bought from DFS and I was so impressed with the how the sofas moved, no scratches, quiet...just perfect . Had a look at them and went on the hunt. My £2000 floor is now ruined by the useless cheap B&Q copies. After talking to the sales chap at DFS who seemed to know a lot about the product, I did some research of my own and the gliders that DFS sell are the real thing..Teflon and a special rubber which is what makes them work. Looks like everything else is just made to look the same as these are the only teflon ones on the market. Oh and its the Teflon that makes them expensive.

  1st point, teflon is not expensive unless you are talking about sheets in excess of a few mm thick.
  2nd point, there are other makes available that are teflon coated (and Easy Glide pads are PTFE coated on one side) for far less than DFS are charging.

  Sorry I would rather buy 125 for 1.99 and replace them when and if needed than buy the expensive ones. I have a solid wood floor two children, two cats a dog and they work fine for me.

  Hi
  I too purchased a sofa and chairs from DFS and was conned by their easy glide "technology".
  They added £70 to my loan agreement (fortunately interest free).
  They wanted £70 for what turned out to be 14 stickers you can get in B&Q for £15!!
  I emailed to complain to Head Office threatening them with Trading Standards and they sent the email to the store, the manager rang me and I'm getting my money back.
  I'm still reporting them to Trading Standards - they've got to stop ripping people off!!!

  I phoned DFS to order a new sofa a few weeks ago.
