Linktree is a social media landing page tool that helps users display their web links. Linktree is popular on Instagram, where users add their Linktree link to the website field on their profile page. Here's a look at how to use Linktree and how to add Linktree to your Instagram.

What Is Linktree Used For?

On Instagram, the only way to link to something is by adding a website link in your bio. You're only allowed to add one link. Linktree solves this problem by giving Instagram users a place to display multiple links to attract followers.

For instance, you might want to link to your blog, your YouTube channel, your Etsy store, your latest book on Amazon, or your Facebook page. Instead of choosing only one of those links to include in your profile's website field, add a Linktree page containing all of those links. This way, followers can choose which one they want to visit.

How to Build a Linktree Page

Here's how to get started with Linktree:

1. Navigate to Linktree in a web browser and select Sign Up Free or Get Started for Free.

   

2. Enter your email address, username, and password, and then select Register.

   

3. Enter your name, select at least three categories that best describe your links, check the Captcha, and then select Save Details.

   

4. Select Continue with Free to opt for the free Linktree plan, or select Make Me a Linktree Pro if you want the paid tier.

   

5. Linktree sends you a verification link in an email message. Select Continue after verifying your email.

   

6. Select Add New Link and then enter a title and the link. The link displays in the previewer on the right. Repeat this step to add as many links as you want.

   

   Toggle the link to off if you want to hide it from your live page.

7. To reorder links, select the three gray dots on the left and then drag the link into place. To delete a link, select the trash can icon.

   

8. To customize your Linktree page, select Settings from the menu at the top.

   

9. Toggle on a banner to support anti-racism, or add a sensitive material warning. If you have Linktree Pro, you can also add email and SMS signup functionality.

   

10. Select Appearance to change how your landing page looks.

    

11. Add a profile image and select a theme. If you have Linktree Pro, scroll down to customize your landing page further.

    

12. When you're ready, select Share, and then choose either Copy my Linktree URL or Download my Linktree QR code.

    

    Your Linktree page link is https://linktr.ee/username, where username is the username you chose when you set up your account.

13. When users arrive at your landing page, they see something like this:

Add Your Linktree Link to Your Instagram Bio

After creating your Linktree landing page, add your Linktree link to your Instagram bio.

1. Launch the Instagram app and select the profile icon in the lower-right corner.

2. Tap Edit Profile.

3. Next to Website, enter your Linktree link and then tap Done. You've added your Linktree link to your Instagram profile.

   

The Trouble With Linktree

In July 2018, in an effort to crack down on shady third-party apps, Instagram mistakenly marked all Linktree links as spam. This error was corrected and isn't likely to happen again. However, there is always a risk of losing valuable leads if Linktree goes down again.
