They have been unable to establish the run in the last two weeks after falling behind early against both New Orleans and Baltimore.
Tony Pollard, who led the Cowboys in rushing yards in each of the past two seasons (1,000+ yards in both 2022 and 2023), signed with Tennessee in free agency this offseason.
Rico Dowdle, who did not start a single game in his career prior to this season, has started each of the last two games and leads Dallas in carries (23) and rushing yards (88) this season.

In Sunday’s loss vs. Baltimore, with Dallas trailing 14-3 in the second quarter, he lost a fumble at the Ravens 10-yard line. Later in the game, Lamb was seen visibly frustrated on the sidelines.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was asked about Lamb’s frustration.
“The body language, whether it’s good or bad, is irrelevant; it’s where his mind is," Prescott told reporters. "He’s going to be disappointed. When you’re passionate and expect a lot from yourself, you’re going to be that way.”
Lamb did not speak with the media after the loss.

Malik Nabers has been unreal so far
Greg Rosenstein
The rookie receiver out of LSU had eight receptions for 87 yards and two scores in Week 2's win against Cleveland. But it wasn't the only time he's shined this season.
Nabers has 23 receptions (2nd in the NFL), 271 yards receiving (5th) and three touchdowns (tied for first) this season. He has been targeted by Daniel Jones 37 times through three games, the most in the league.
“[Daniel Jones] told me if he throws it up there, it’s me or nobody," he told members of the media after the game. "(Brian Daboll) is cooking up a lot of plays for me, the offense trusting me to get that done, putting a lot of targets on my back, getting the ball in my hands. It shows how much we want to be an explosive offense, and I’m just a key factor in that offense.”
Devin Singletary productive for New York
Greg Rosenstein
The Giants let running back Saquon Barkley leave in free agency for the Philadelphia Eagles and replaced him with former Texan Devin Singletary. While many scoffed at the move this offseason, Singletary has done his best to fill the void.
In a Week 3 win against the Browns, he had 16 carries for 65 rushing yards and a touchdown to go along with four receptions for 43 yards. Singletary could have rushed for another score late in the fourth quarter, but went down at the Cleveland 1-yard line so his team could kneel out the clock.

Is he Barkley, who is having a career resurgence for the Eagles right now? No. But he's a key contributor to a team desperately lacking offensive weapons.

Greg Rosenstein

"We’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’ve got time to do that kind of work and we’ve got a short week this week, but we’ve got to start," Jones added. "That was disappointing. … When you look at the whole picture, we got outplayed.”

Cowboys off to rough start
NBC Sports
The Cowboys (1-2) are off to their worst start since the 2020 season (Mike McCarthy’s first season as head coach). In 2020, the last time Dallas missed the playoffs, it started 1-2 and finished the season 6-10.
McCarthy said his team needs to "look straight in the mirror" after losing to the Ravens in Week 2.
“We put a lot into this game. We put a lot into it every week. Our practice — sometimes your preparation is really good and you don’t play as well as you would like, and there’s times when your preparation is not very good and you play better than you thought. I think clearly this week our preparation was pretty much in line with the way we played.
"This group works hard. They do. I truly love the locker room. They’ve got a ton of fight, but we’re going through some growing pains. So, we need to continue to grow. Get ready for this game in New York.”
